How to preserve parsley for the whole year?

Fresh parsley is perfect for many dishes, but it can lose its freshness in a short time. Fortunately, with a simple storage method, we can preserve its aroma for a longer time and use it in soups, sauces, meat dishes and side dishes.

Freezing is one of the easiest home methods to preserve parsley. It requires no special equipment and with the right preparation can be on hand for months.

Ingredients
Fresh parsley
Cold water
Paper towel or clean tea towel
Olive oil or sunflower oil, optional
A tightly sealed freezer bag or container
Preparation
Sort the parsley and remove any yellowed or damaged leaves.
Wash thoroughly in cold water.
It is very important to dry the parsley thoroughly. Spread it on a clean kitchen towel or paper towel and let it dry.
Remove the thicker stems, then chop the leaves.
Divide it into smaller portions so that later you only have to take out the necessary amount.
Put the portions in a tightly sealed freezer bag or an airtight container.
If you want, you can also add a little olive oil.
Seal it tightly and place it in the freezer.
How do we use it?

Frozen parsley does not necessarily need to be completely thawed. It can be added directly to soups, ragouts, sauces, meat dishes, potatoes or other side dishes.

Useful tips for storing parsley

Before preserving, always make sure that the parsley is as dry as possible. Too much moisture can freeze the leaves and make dosing difficult.

It is worth storing in small portions and writing the date of freezing on the bag. This makes it easier to keep track of when it went into the freezer.

Summary

Preserving parsley is a simple and practical way to keep our favorite green spice available for longer. Properly prepared and frozen parsley can be used in many everyday dishes, so we don’t have to buy fresh every time.
